Tips for Stress Free Family Camping
Posted by Unknown in: travel
A family travel policy is a necessary piece of documentation on a
family camping trip. Heed our other tips below for a stress free family
camping experience.
A family camping trip has got to be one of the best ways to spend
quality time with each other. With no TV and plenty of time to sit
around talking and playing games, camping brings families closer
together and can be an unforgettable experience.
If you are new to the idea of family camping, though, the thought of
organising such a trip can be daunting. We recommend that, once you have
got your family travel policy sorted, you take our tips on board which
will help you get off to a great start.
Take a Cool Box
Perfect for storing food and drinks, a cool box is a must when on a
family camping holiday. Cool it before you go, pack it with plenty of
ice packs and it is the ideal mobile refrigerator. Use the packs rather
than ice cubes as they last longer, and only pack the cool box with
refrigerated or frozen food as you don’t want to melt the ice packs
quicker than necessary by storing warm food stuff.
Clothing
Get all family members to pack their own little bag. With limited
space in tents, it makes it easier to find everyone’s clothing as well
as other things each member of the family might need. Take a bin bag for
laundry and remember to pack toiletries in wash bags for those trips to
the showers and toilet rooms, which can be a little walk from your
tent. Flip-flops are great for wearing in the showers too.
Storage
Storage bins are the perfect storage solution for camping bits and
pieces, both at home and on the campsite itself. Once unpacked, you can
use an empty storage bin for stowing away shoes outside the tent at
night, always remembering to put the lid on to avoid damp shoes the next
day when the morning dew covers everything.
Keep personal documents including your family travel policy in a
separate bag locked up in a secure place either in your car or in a
security box in the tent, and then you know exactly where the important
things are should you require them.
Take Care of Your Tent
Tents today are well designed and very weatherproof, but they need to
be taken care of. It is a good idea to lay a large tarpaulin over the
floor of your tent to protect it from wear and tear, and during the day,
if you keep the tent zipped up, you are going to stop insects and other
small animals crawling in and potentially causing damage.
These can get very musty if not aired properly as they absorb body
moisture during the night. It is a good idea to unzip them during the
day so that they can air and dry and maintain their insulation
efficiency.
Get Insurance
A family travel policy is the best way to cover your whole family for
any incidents that might occur while you are away. Hopefully your
camping trip will go without a hiccup
, but a family travel policy offers that welcome peace of mind.
